affirmative care
LGBTQIA+ Affirmative Therapy
Affirmative therapy starts from the position that your identity is not the problem. Being queer, trans, non-binary, asexual or questioning is not something to be treated. What may need attention is everything the world stacks on top of it. Several of our counsellors are from the community, and all of them are trained in affirmative practice.

Not bookable at the moment. Nobody on our panel is currently qualified for this, and we would rather say that than put you in front of the wrong person. Write to us and we'll tell you honestly whether we can help, or point you somewhere that can.

what happens
How your sessions will work.
Your terms
You set the language for your own identity and relationships. Nobody is going to correct your vocabulary or ask you to justify it.
The real pressures
Family, work, safety, housing, and the daily cost of deciding who to be out to. Practical as well as emotional.
Support that keeps up
As things change — coming out, transition, a new relationship, a family rupture — the work changes with them.
your therapy pathway
What the journey looks like.
As long as is useful. Some come for a few sessions around one decision, some for longer. This is the usual shape, not a contract. Your practitioner adjusts the pace to you, and you can pause or stop whenever you want.
Session 1
Start from you
Your identity is the starting point, never the problem. You talk about what is hard right now: family, work, safety, relationships.
Early sessions
What you need
Practical and emotional: whether and how to come out, managing a family reaction, or the paperwork around transition.
Middle sessions
Carry less alone
Work on minority stress, isolation and self-worth, at your pace.
Ongoing
Changes with you
As life changes, the work changes with it. You can pause and return whenever you need.

common questions
Before you begin
Never. It is unethical, it causes documented harm, and it is prohibited in India. No therapist offering it would be practising here.
